Microsoft Windows 8 preview will be available from June. Previously the much awaited test version of the Windows 8 operating system was launched by Microsoft at the mobile World Congress, 2012 in Barcelona on 29th of February.
Windows 8 'Beta' version features :
The looks of the Windows 8 resembles the Windows Phone 7. One of the main thing to be noted is that the traditional 'Start' Menu is missing in the new version. The applications are spread across a surface with a tiles kind of design resembling road signs, which Microsoft terms a 'Metro'.
The signs in the tiles can be used to navigate through the OS with a swipe in a touch enabled computing device like tablets or touchscreen PC monitors or with mouse or a keyboard. The new version of the operating system will make its official market launch either in the month of September or October.
The launch event at MWC 2012 had the Microsoft executives explaining the ease at which the OS can be surfed with the touch-based technology, by practically showing off methods to move in and out of applications with their fingertips. Th touch-based technology allows the users to stretch the vertical screens horizontally so that it can be used as a big drawing table.
Microsoft 'SkyDrive' :
Microsoft, in the future, is expected to launch the 'SkyDrive', a storage device which will allow users to store their files, images, movie, music easily. The Skydrive has been developed to go head to head with Apple's iCloud.
If Windows 8 becomes a hit, Microsoft's dependency on PC growth for its revenue will be reduced. The ever increasing 'Tablet' wars will give Microsoft a new area to increase its market share, since the OS has been developed to support both tablets and PCs
