LG LSM-100 Scanner Mouse Review

LSM-100

Innovations do not find boundaries and this has once again been proved by LG. The company has come with new Mouse Scanner, which has announced at the  IFA 2011, the LG LSM-100 scanner mouse which looks like that of any other mouse in the market but something out of the box.

The  LG LSM-100 has  a mouse wheel and 5 buttons, beneath the mouse lies the 300 dpi scanner. If you want to scan a document or something else, all you need to do is to press the scan button on the left  side of the mouse. Once complete, the mouse scanner will then save the scanned images as either a PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS or DOC file.

LSM-100 Pros:

-  Good Grip in the hand
-  Cheap & portable

LSM-100  Cons:

-  Too flashy
-  Fingerprint magnet

The Bottom Line :

An odd idea from LG, yet unique one for the market.

Once the button on the left side is pressed, the  LG’s scanning software comes to life, which allows you to capture everything from text snippets and small images to full-sized A4 or even A3 pages at up to 325ppi. Scanning can be done in any size.

Underneath is a 4 LEDs and a small mobile phone-style Camera to capture images. Swiping over the document or the image, scans the documents and makes it available for you to edit and send to the preferred destination.

The LG Scanner Mouse LSM-100 is HID-compliant and featured with a 1200 dpi optical laser, coupled with a scanner which is capable of scanning documents up to 300 dpi in full color.  The Smart Scan software of  LSM-100 allows you to scan any kind of documents and allows you to print or paste the scanned documents into any application and will OCR the text and allows you to paste it into  Email or Word document, and there are shortcut links to popular social networking feeds Flickr, Twitter and Facebook.

Disadvantages :

The LG Scanner Mouse LSM-100 also has few disadvantages. The scanner cannot go with small papers, which is disappointing when you are planning to scan a sticky notes.  The scanner is also not at scanning photographs.

Verdict :

Taking into account the review of the new LG Scanner Mouse LSM-100, the mouse + scanner is a good attempt and special thanks for the company for coming with such an innovation.  Though the shape of the mouse looks odd, the performance of the mouse is great.  A good one for a person who will have to scan files on daily basis.
