What is msnNOW ?

Microsoft has launched its new social and news reading application, the msnNOW, for getting users to know about the online trends and breaking news feeds. MSN, which already has a strong user base of over 522 million, will provide them a platform to get updated on what is trending and hot in the web.

How to access msnNOW ?

The new msnNOW application can be accessed in the web through now.msn.com, and is available in Facebook and as a mobile website. As of now, the trending topics and news feeds will be limited only for the US users and will be spread all over the globe soon.

How does msnNOW display trending contents ?

The contents (news feeds and trending topics) on msnNOW will be generated based on the basic algorithms followed by Twitter and Facebook. Moreover, the news feeds will be from MSNBC's Breakingnews.com. Exclusive of this, a team of 20 editors will choose best trending topics and display it in with catchy headlines.

These trending topics will be displayed in the 'Whats Trending' section of mnsNOW and will have a maximum word limit of 100. As per the words from MSN General Manager Bob Visse, the new msnNOW application is an effort to bring in the latest and lively news and online social trends which would attract more socially active (online) users. The msnNOW targets people of age group between 25-40.

How to share and comment on msnNOW ?

The contents which are filtered by editors and through algorithm are expected to be more interactive among Internet users. So, the immediate question which strikes your mind is, How to share or comment in msnNOW. Sharing has been made possible on the msnNOW website and comments can be posted through msnNOW social reader application.

msnNOW will hasn't got the Google+ social network integration as of now. Microsoft is expected to add the Google+ once after its users increase by a considerable level. In order to make it easy for the users who access mnsNOW through mobile web, a touch based interface has been constructed. A few easy swipes will aloow the users to access information and click through desired links.

Another thing to be made clear is that the msnNOW will not be available as an aoplication in Windows OS powered mobile phones.
