What is SOPA & PIPA ? Censoring the Internet ?
sopa-bill
SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) & PIPA (Protect IP Act), IP stands for intellectual property are getting to move to the darker side with blackout of Wikipedia and other major websites. The giant search engine Google, will also join the battalion to fight against SOPA & PIPA, explaining why the site  is against these bills.
SOPA and PIPA: The Basics
SOPA, called  in the U.S. House of Representatives, and PIPA, in the U.S. Senate, mainly aim at foreign websites that infringe copyrighted material. The bills SOPA & PIPA are commonly associated with media piracy, but may also apply to counterfeit consumer goods and medication.

How will this affect me?

If these bills SOPA and PIPA are passed by the US Congress, the bill will give the Congress and the corporations the authority to censor the Internet in terms of infringement. Hard on the nail, in case a site is offering you a movie download, say Sherlock Holmes 2, then Warner Bros can demand to block the site's ISP and can ask the link to be removed from Google and its search results. If Sony realizes that their music is available in a site illegally, then Sony can have the site shut down.

In case you are tweeting or sharing a pirated info or any material, then the social networking site have to delete the post.

Why SOPA & PIPA ?
The main reason for passing the bills in the Congress, is that many entertainment companies believe that their materials (no matter of what type they are – music, videos, books and others) are easily available over the internet illegally and for FREE. If the sites are been shutdown, the companies claim that they will earn millions and millions more.

Few technology based companies also support the SOPA and PIPA, but the major concern about these companies is that, the bills are too heavy.  Content companies believe that the bills will create important tools for fighting piracy.

Will SOPA & PIPA work ?
Though many companies claim that the bills will work out, few other companies also claim that users will always find new ways to circumvent the piracy acts.
