|Bhupathi-Bopanna, Paes-Stepanek exit Wimbledon 2012|
The all-Indian pair Mahesh Bhupathi-Rohan Bopanna and Leander Paes along with his Czech Republic partner Radek Stepanek were knocked out of the Wimbledon 2012 doubles championship.
Paes and Stepanek lost a hard fought match to the 15th seeded pair of Brazil's Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig of Croatia in the third round. The match was stretched to the second day as due to rain interruption and second day's play lasted for 2 hours and 49 minutes.
Marcelo Melo and Ivan Dodig won 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-8 to knockout the fourth seeded Paes and Stepanek in the third round of the Wimbledon Men's doubles.
Paes-Stepanek fought hard to save the fourth set stretching it to the tie-breaker and won it 7-2. The set lasted for 58 minutes. The fifth set was the decider which gave thrilling tennis display from both the pairs, but Dodig and Melo bettered the Indo-Czech pair and won it 8-6.
Mahesh Bhupathi and Bopanna suffered a shocking defeat in the hands of unseeded pair of Russian Mikhail Elgin and Denis Istomin of Uzbekistan. In the match which lasted just 5-7, 6-7 (4-7), 3-6.
Leander Paes still has a chance in Wimbledon in the mixed doubles partnering Elena Vesnina in the second round.
