French Open's hot favourite Rafael Nadal will take on fellow Spaniard Nicolas Almagro in the quarter-finals of the French Open 2012. Unlike the top seeded Novak Djokovic who faced stiff competition from Frenchman Joe Wilfried Tsonga in the quarterfinals, Nadal is expected to cruise past Almagro.

Rafael Nadal holds a 7-0 record over his countryman Almagro and a he faces him for the sixth time on clay. Nadal, who has been picked up by Roger Federer and Djokovic as the favourite to win the French Open will become the first player to win the Grand Slam for the seventh time.

At the Centre Court second seed Maria Sharapova will face Estonian Kaia Kanepi. Sharapova, who is looking forward to her maiden French Open title can reach the top of the WTA rankings if she reaches the finals of this Grand Slam.

Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova will face Kazakh Yaroslava Shvedova who knocked out title holder Li Na in the previous round.
