Rahul Dravid and Gambhir recommended for Padma awards

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has recommended the name of Indian batting legend Rahul Dravid for the Padma bhushan award which is the highest civilian honor in India.

Rahul Dravid, who missed out the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna awards is due to get much more bigger honor, the Padma Bhushan and Gautam gambhir has been suggested for Padma Shri award.

Dravid retired from International and domestic cricket in the month of March, 2012. BCCI President N Srinivasan and secretary Sanjay Jagadale have forwarded the name to the government, says an official source. The President of India and secretary will take the final decision for the awards.

Gautam Gambhir has already been conferred for the Arjuna award. Gambhir's performance in all the three formats of the game and his 97 runs in the world cup finals has made him a strong contender for the award.
