India advanced to the final round of the 2012 Olympic Men's Hockey qualifiers by defeating Canada 3-2 in a round-robin match on Wednesday, Feb 22. Sandeep Singh, who scored three goals in the previous match against France, once again saved the day for India.

Sandeep Singh converted two penalty corners in the 40th and 61st minute to help India cruise past Canada and eventually increased his goal tally to nine in the tournament. Shivendra Singh was the first scorer of the match (26th minute) for India.

Mark Pearson (50th) and Scot Tupper (53rd) were the goal scorers for Canada. India is almost through to the iconic tournament's title clash with four wins from four games. India will be in jeopardy if and only if India show worst performance in the conclusion stages.

All that India needs to enter the Olympic title race is to manage a draw against Poland during their Friday encounter. The Canadians still have last hopes of qualifying for the finals for which they will have to win France in their upcoming fixture and rely on India to beat Poland.

Team India is now on the top of the table with 12 points followed by Poland (9), France (9), Canada (6) in the next consecutive places.
