Cesc Fabregas was the man who scored the winning penalty shot for the Spaniards after Portugal's Brumo Alves failing to find the net by a close margin. Surprisingly Cristiano Ronaldo did not take any penalty shot. Iker Casillas' save of Joao Moutinho's spot Kick also made the difference. Spain will be meeting either Germany or Italy who will play for their finals berth in Warsaw. Spain's campaign in the 2012 UEFA European Cup started off with 1-1 draw against Italy, 4-0 thrashing of Ireland and 1-0 victory over Croatia. The quarter-finals had Xabi Alonso as the star scoring two goals one from a header and the other from a penalty shot. Portugal lost their first match against Germany by 1-0, but fought hard to win Denmark, 3-2, and the Netherlands 2-1. Ronaldo scored alone goal in the quarter-final to hook his team to semi-finals.
