The 2012 German Grand Prix saw Ferrari's Fernando Alonso emerging victorious and McLaren's Jenson Button finishing second and Kimi Raikkonen at the third spot. Sebastian Vettel finished third but was penalized for overtaking Jenson Button in the 66th lap.

Vettel's 20 second penalty moved him from the second spot to fifth thereby promoting Jenson Button and Kimi Raikkonen to the second and third spot respectively. Fernando Alonso faced stiff competition from Jenson Button, but managed stay ahead of him till the finish.

Fernando Alonso also won the last German GP held at Hockenheim circuit. Alonso has totally won 3 races, the most by any driver in the 2012 season. Alonso is holding a clear 34-points lead over Red Bull's Mark Webber. Mark Webber managed to finish only eighth.

Sahara Force India's drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Paul Di Resta managed to finish at the ninth and eleventh place respectively. Force India was pinning hopes with Nico Hulkenberg as he started from a season best fourth place, but secured only 2 point after finishing ninth.

Hulkenberg opted for a three-stop strategy, while his teammate Paul Di-Resta opted for a two-stop strategy. Force India are currently 8th in the constructor's championship with 46 points.
