|Lewis Hamilton takes pole position for Australian F1 GP 2012|
McLaren's experienced drivers Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button qualified in the first and second respectively for the pole position of the Australian F1 GP. Lewis Hamilton took the 20th pole position of his career followed by Jenson Button in the second.
Defending World Champion Sebastian Vettel could qualify only in the sixth best time. Lotus F1 GP's Romain Grosjean was a surprise visitor to the third position. Romain Grosjean took a narrow lead over seven-time World champion Michael Shumacher who finished fourth.
Mercedes' Nico Rosberg qualified seventh. Mark Webber from Red Bull racing team managed to qualify in the 5th position, while his teammate and defending champion Sebastian Vettel qualified 6th.
Willams-Renault's Pastor Maldonado qualified 8th, while Force India's Nico Hulkenberg managed to qualify 9th.
