Managing your peer group at office is like walking on the EDGE of a knife. The closer you become to them, the meddling they will be. And, when you try to go far away everyone would be readily stamping you as an introvert or boss’s close associate. 

With a little bit of common sense and some official tactics applied in the office environment, you could easily win over their heart without earning the bad name from your boss.
Here’s what you should be doing in the first place…

Be Sincere but subtly
Always be sincere in your job and do your work with concentration. Because, your career plays a crucial role in determining your future and carelessness will make you pay more than you anticipated. But, sincere is something considered as stupidity among peer group. Most guys working with you appear careless but as a matter of fact everyone wants to go up in the social ladder and always try to give their best even though it is subtle. So, follow their tactics. Work hard but show you aren’t too into the job or being the good boy of the class. It will make them feel you are one of them!

Avoid gossiping
Gossips and rumors are always aplenty in any office. People loving talking bad about others but keep yourself at bay when someone wants to use you as a tool. Gossips always lead to trouble one day or the other. Never join such guys and mingle with the other group if possible who wouldn’t like talking bad about others. Keep in mind that one day this same group would go against and start bad mouthing about you. So avoid gossiping at all costs.

Share some
As much as you avoid being in the rumor arena, do share some of your personal stuff with your close buddies. Have buddies at office which makes the work environment much more easier to accustom than being an intimidating place which is filled with just work and annoying bosses. It will help you work at ease and also feel a little bit at home when you have some friends there.

Be proactive
Be ahead in helping your peer group but don’t over indulge as all of them may not be worthy. But, spend time to help who are around you in day to day life. So, when you are in trouble someone or the other would stand up to you and support your cause. A credibility of an employee lies on positive votes from his colleagues.
