![]() With the release of Aashayein, there is good as well bad news awaiting the fans of the handsome hunk John Abraham, the romeo of Bibash Basu.
The good news is that John Abraham is returning back to the silver screen today after New York in June 2009 with Nagesh Kukunoor directed Aashayein. The bad news is that one cannot see a 'but'licious John Abraham, whom you enjoyed in Dostana. John Abraham is not the eye candy in this film Aashayein. We had been drooling over the actor John Abraham in the recent times only ads like LG Cookie mobile, and many other brands for which John had been the brand ambassador. To get in to the character for this sensitive role, of Aashayein John Abraham brought his weight down to 76 kilos during the two-and half month long shooting for this movie. Which is a mere shadow of the Bollywood hunk’s otherwise 92 kilos of brawn and Sex appeal. The thing is Aashayein film was made way back in 2008, much before John and his famous butt which made him get in to the list of Sexiest Man in Asia. So what and why it took so long to finish thi smovie? To reduce weight? Dint he get Tips from the Perfectionist Ghajini Aamir who did the perfect gain and reduce weight that seemed so ease and also with his look in the next film 3 iditots? But John Anbraham reveals to the media that Aashayein is a film with a sweet, credible message. John Abraham further reveals that “Whoever sees Aashayein with their heart in right place, will really like it. I’m happy it’s actually the movie is being released now by Reliance BIG Pictures because audiences are being receptive to films like Udaan and Tere Bin Laden. They will find a connect in Aashayein too” It seems that John himself broke in to teaars, when Nagesh Kukunoor approached him with the script of Aashayein, which was earlier titled as 90 Days. “As I read the script of Aashayein, I broke down and cried,” revealed John honestly. “I stopped reading, gathered myself, and started again. I thought, this must be my state of mind, because I was at an emotional low then. But I couldn’t stop crying. When I finished reading, I had tears in my eyes, but I was also smiling. That’s what this film does to you. It fills you with hope, it leaves you elated, it makes you realise life is beautiful.” John knew he wanted to do the film. But Nagesh had a rider. It seems that Nagesh Kukunoor had warned John that “Your physicality, you cannot be John Abraham in this film, you have to break down emotionally and physically.” John, who was already down emotionally, thought, what better time! “As actors we are selfish,” he admitted. The Weight Loss was more difficult. However, Nagesh gave him a lead time by shooting the film in a linear manner — first scene first, last scene last. “So I could lose the 15-20 kilos in two-and-half months without harming myself,” said John. ![]() John is now glad he made the sacrifice because, after two successive hits in Dostana and New York, he believes it’s important for him to have an Aashayein in his filmography. John confesses, “ Aashayein will give me respect and credibility in the industry.” But what about the sex symbol status that his fans are craving to look more for? John admits that he likes it and replies promptly, “I can’t say I don’t like that space. Though I’m a complete softie. People see through my muscularity. They are not scared to come and talk to me. Or to feel my abs and arms and see if they are real! I don’t mind that. But I also like being appreciated for my performances. Hopefully Aashayein will do that for me, too. A film like Aashayein is a wake-up call. It’s about achieving your dreams in this lifetime, about doing the things for yourself today that you keep putting off for tomorrow, believing life to be endless, until you realize it’s too late.” I hope though its an art film from the house of Nagesh Kukunoor, John Abraham fans, will definitely watch this film for a new avatar of his. But the hunk's fans need not worry for to long, a sabbatical which John took after Newyork and Dostana and John will be back with the 'but'licious look (ya exactly 90 kgs of him) with another movie Jhoota Hi Sahi and guess what, the fans get to see him in a rom-com alongside Pakhi (Abbas Tyrewala's wife) and directed by Abbas Tyrewala under the banner of Studio 18, and the music score by none other than our Oscarwinner A.R.Rahman, which is to be released on October 15.
