|Panithuli Tamil Movie Review|
Panithuli which has been long due for release at last has successfully hit the theaters. The film directed by Natti Kumar has Ganesh Venkatraman, newcomers Shobana and Kalpana Pandit in the leads.
The film initially starts in India, where Ganesh who plays the role of Siva and Shobana who plays the character Meera are medical college students and are in love with one another.
Meera helps Siva to secure a job in US. At this juncture, Siva witnesses Meera's father who plots to kill a person, and despite Siva's attempts to save them, they die. Siva before leaving to US, meets Meera's father who promises to marry him to his daughter, when he returns back after an year from the US.
Later, Siva leaves to US and after two years, Siva is seen with another girl. Here we get introduced to the film's second heroine Maya played by Kalpana Pandit. Meera's father happens to meet Siva at a bar in US who is seen with his girlfriend Maya and few other friends.
Here we get to know that Siva has had a small accident on his arrival in US and he has forgotten the happenings in the past four years. Seeing Siva with a girlfriend and boozing around, he informs his daughter Meera about how Siva has changed.
Meanwhile Siva goes out on a trekking with his friends, where on drinking a herb juice, Siva gets back his memories (how cinematic can it become?). On recollecting back his memories, Siva sets out to meet Meera, but she ignores him.
To get back his love, Siva decides to act as a mentally retarded person to gain Meera's attention. AT this point even Meera meets with an accident and looses her memory. Later how Siva manages to win back his love, does Meera gains back her memory, does her father approve of the marriage forms the film's climax.
The film has way too many accidents and memory loss used for convenience in the plot and does not give any justification for the chain of events that take place.
There is no thriller factor in the movie, as it is claimed by the film's crew. The screenplay is dragging and as no logic for certain scenes at all. Gaining back memories after drinking a potion?
While the location that has been captured, shot majorly in Us gives us a viewing pleasure, there is nothing in the film to gain our attention.
