| Dhoni Movie Review (Tamil / Telugu) |
Dhoni Movie story : Prakash Raj who plays Venkatrama Subramaniam/Subbu, has a son Karthik (Aaksh Puri) and a daughter Kaveri (Sri Teja) and works in a registrar office. Radhika Apte (as Nalini) plays Prakash Raj's neighbour. Prakash Raj (Subbu) plays a role of a common middle-class father who earns his living through government job and does side business to support his daughter and son's studies. Subbu's son Kathik, who aspires to become a cricketer by profession and excels well in sport at the school level through his coach Nassar, but fails to concentrate in academics. Subbu's daughter Kaveri often spends time with Radhika Apte (Nalini). Accidentally Subbu gets to know that Nalini earns her living through prostitution and strictly orders his daughter to stay away from her. Due to poor academic profile, the school authorities request Subbu to voluntarily get his son out of the school. With immediate effect Subbu stops Karthik from cricket coaching and dumps him into a series of tuition classes. Karthik fails to cope up with studies even after quitting cricket which makes Subbu to lose his patience and beat him up. Accidentally, Karthik gets hit on the back portion of his head and hits the floor with heavy bleeding, which puts Subbu into jail on an attempt murder case. Nalini helps in bringing out Subbu and in paying hospital bills for his son through her political influence. Subbu, with the assistance of Nalini gets his son Karthi to his favourite places as per the doctor's advice to get him out of coma. In the meanwhile Subbu gets second notification from the school authorities regarding his son's TC. After completing the formalities in school Subbu clears his son Kathik's locker. Eventually Subbu realizes that his son's dream was to become a cricketer and feels for forcing him towards studies. The rest of the story narrates Subbu's struggle to get his son back to normal and make him realize his dream, with surprising twists. Dhoni Movie highlights : Unlike his first directional attempt 'Naanu Nanna Kanasu', Prakash Raj has got more of his own stuff into Dhoni, which needs a special mention. Apart from direction and production, Prakash Raj has also penned the screenplay of the movie along with TJ Gnavavel. The screenplay has been made engaging with a few good twists at perfect intervals, especially in the second half. The director has avoided unnecessary elaborations in scenes which doesn't makes us feel bored. Isaignani Ilayaraja's background score speaks more than words for the movie. Among the songs, 'Vangum Panathukum' sung by SP Balasubramaniam scores well. The song has Prabhu Deva dancing for the tunes and the picturization has been done like 'Unnodu Vaazhaadha' song in Ajith's 'Amarkalam' Radhika Apte plays a good supporting role throughout the movie. Brahmanandam, Singamuthu and Prakash Raj himself contribute for the comedy portions. All the songs are situational and Na. Muthukumar's lyrics binds well with it. Rating : 3 / 5 Dhoni movie cast :
