Malayalam actor Thilakan, who is a known face in South Indian film industry, passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvanathapuram today (24-09-12), following a cardiac arrest. He was 74.
Thilakan was admitted to the hospital following a critical health condition after surviving two heart attacks. According to the hospital reports the veteran Malayalam actor passed away at 3 AM this morning.
Thilakan has been a part of nearly 300 films in various languages, with Malayalam leading the list. He is survived by two sons and two daughters. His health condition was on a critical stage evenr since he was admitted to the hospital on 23rd of August. He was also affected by pneumonia.
Thilakan started his film career in the 1950s and earned wide recognition the 1979 film Ulkadal. Ustad Hotel was his last film.
