| Ilaiyaraaja's song included in London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony List |
![]() The latest buzz surrounding the k-town is that maestro Ilayaraja's song has been included in the list of songs that would feature during the opening ceremony of Olympics to be held in London. The song that was featured in the list of 86 songs is 'Naandhaan Ungappanda' from the movie Ram Lakshman (1981), which features Kamal Hassan and Sripriya. The list also includes tracks of Adele, Sex Pistols, Amy Winehouse and Michael Jackson, which apparently has been leaked to British Media. The list also includes Paper Planes, the song by British singer of Tamil origin M.I.A, which was also featured in Slumdog Millionaire). However when contacted Ilaiyaraja by media, his spokesperson, had told that they dint not get intimation from the organizers of the Olympic Games regarding the inclusion of the song. But he also told that fans of the composer had been calling to inquire about the same. The spokesperson added, “We don’t know whether to believe these reports or dismiss them as rumors.” While the Indian Olympic Committee informs that they too did not receive any intimation about the same, they also informs that only London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), which is in charge of the opening ceremony, will be able to confirm the news. Recently Ilayaraja has been in London for composing Gautham Menon's film and did live recording with the musicians there. |
