Saif Ali Khan was snapped as he emerged out of Colaba Police Station after getting bail in the assault case filed against him by an South African businessman Iqbal Meer Sharma in Mumbai on February 22, 2012.
Saif had surrendered to police after being accused of fracturing the nose of the businessman at a fight in Taj Hotel in Colaba, Mumbai.
Saif later also spoke to media regarding the assault charges outside his house in Mumbai.
Police had detained Saif and his friends Bilal Amrohi and actress Amrita Arora's husband Shakeel Ladak at the Marine Drive police station, and later were brought to the Colaba police station. It is reported that they were given bail on personal bonds of Rs.3,000 each.
As Saif spoke to media, he said, "There was an ugly incident last night (Tuesday) where my friends and the ladies with us were abused and I was assaulted. I was hit and I defended myself.
In his statement Saif further added, “I was hit first. And as shocking as it may seem, the elderly gentleman hit me. I’m not sure what provoked him. I am looking forward to CCTV footage (inside the restaurant).”
Saif also said, "I have been to the police station to answer the requirements of law as I am a law abiding citizen. I have also filed a complaint about what happened last night and I am confident justice will be done."
