|Chew away the calories|
It all started for the smokers who were struggling to come out from their nicotine addiction and now researchers are in the making of a new chewing gum that would help out the obese people around the world. In general, diet and workouts are suggested for losing weight, but latest research reports from Syracuse University states that it is possible for an obese person to control the appetite by a chewing gum.
A human body's appetite is mainly managed by the secretion of the hormone called human PYY. This hormone controls the regulation of appetite and energy and release it to the human body through blood. So the scientists in Syracuse University have taken the PYY hormone as the key to the formulation of the Weight Loss chewing gum.
The effective functioning or secretion of PYY hormone is necessary for a human body to get the desired results when eating or doing exercises. Based on studies, scientists claim that obese people have percentage of PYY hormone compared to non-obese people. The PYY hormone when injected, resulted in less consumption of calories both in the case of obese and non-obese people. The PYY hormone helps in suppressing the appetite resulting in low calorie consumption.
The key question is that, how can the PYY hormone be injected to the bloodstream safely to get the desired result. However, the researchers have found a method to carry the PYY hormone safely into the bloodstream. Lead researcher Robert Doyle, who had proved Vitamin B12 to be a carrier of insulin says that it is possible to mask the PYY hormone under the same vitamin to achieve the desired result. Doyle confessed that he has emerged successful in delivering a small amount of PYY into the bloodstream.
Like nicotine coated gums which are used to help smokers get out of the habit, chewing gums which stimulates PYY hormone can be used to help people lose weight. His research states that after a a few hours of chewing (3-4 hrs), the PYY hormone starts flowing into the bloodstream and decrease appetites which helps the person in consuming less amount of calories.
