The need for speed hot pursuit 2010 is about to launch on Nov 16^th but before that we got our hands on the superb cop-robber chasing sequel in a demo mode exclusive for PS3 and Xbox360. The game promises a lot and from what we saw, we guess it will deliver all that is expected of it and maybe more. The EA franchise was in a debacle and it was nearly the end of NFS series with its back to back flops with Pro Street, but Shift gave it a new lease of life and the game developers wanted to go back to where they started making it big, the Hot Pursuit series.

In this demo mode, you get to play both as the cop and the robber. Being a cop is all about catching the speeders while being on the other end is to escape the law in one way or the other (detour in this context).

Cop Mode

The cop mode has extensive operations to be done besides speeding ahead of a car to just stop it! This time cops get a lot more back up and they don’t rely on same old chase and cover kind of gaming. As a cop from the simple game mode and extended previews in the E3, we knew that there are much to explore.

1. Cops could call for backup more than 3 times in a row in case of evading suspects who are hard to catch.

2. The Hot Pursuit 2 chopper pursuit has been added and it could be used to drop in barrels to slow down or wreck the criminal’s car.

3. Spike strips could be deployed on the go, we guess so that it’s something like Crash Bandicot racing games from PS.

4. You can form box or other formations to corner speeders with help of your AI buddies or real friends. So much of cops!

Speeder Mode

All you can do is speed, speed and keep speeding. Doge obstacles and use speed breakers. If you are not familiar see Most Wanted and you will know how they break cop pursuits in that by means of wrecking the whole town.

It’s fun and no one can stop you unless you decide if you make good use of the environment. The Game Review will be coming in a fortnight we guess!
