Volkswagen UP! India launch not shelved

2012-Volkswagen-Up-5-Door-Hatchback

Volkswagen UP, the entry level car from the German automobile giant was supposed to launch in India, seems to get closer to its launching time. Recently, the UP! small car with right-hand drive and five doors was spotted undisguised in Pune. Now, this positive sign has hinted the launch of the small car from Volkswagen.

Volkswagen has been working on redesigning the UP! In order to suit various international market. Recently, the UP! which is being tested in Brazil has got a new rear design along with more spacious rear seating. This re-engineered model is being developed for markets like Russia, India, China etc.

Volkswagen is lacking a competitive sales figure for its products due to its higher price tag. The Polo hatchback is also slightly higher priced and hence the German automaker needs a budget car which would do the volume sales. Maruti Suzuki has got the Alto at the entry level, Hyundai has its Eon small car, while Honda has also its budget small car Brio. Now, Volkswagen Up! Will be a good bet for the company to compete with these entry level cars.

The main thing which will hinder Volkswagen is the price point. Moreover, Volkswagen will also have maintain a perfect balance between the price and quality of the UP! Failing which the company will tumble once again.
