Japanese automaker Honda Jazz will launch the all new Honda jazz hatchback which is otherwise called as 'Fit' in other parts of the globe in the year 2013. The brand new Jazz hatchback will hit the showrooms in 2013 after which the much expected compact SUV based on the Jazz small car platform will be rolled out.

2013 New Honda Jazz hatchback :

The all new Jazz hatchback will be launched with both petrol and diesel units along with a hybrid model too. Honda's R and D is developing a small diesel unit for using it in cars like the Brio and Jazz. Honda has been selling the Jazz hatchback for a long time in India and hence we can expect the Jazz hatchback with turbo diesel engine in Indian market with no time lag.

Honda compact SUV based on Jazz platform :

Honda's plans of strengthening its position in Indian car market is a positive sign and thanks to the success of Maruti Ertiga MPV which is also a reason for the Japanese automaker to work on a compact SUV based on Jazz platform.

Since, the new Jazz hatchback will be launched in 2013, we can expect the Jazz-based compact SUV to arrive by 2015. Currently, Honda sells the Freed MPV (based on Jazz) in Southeast Asian markets. There are also talks prevailing that Honda could borrow the engine from Freed MPV for its Jazz based compact SUV.

The Jazz based compact SUV will be primarily aimed at European markets, but was can expect the same in Indian market which has good reception for compact SUVs. In European markets Honda's compact SUV will compete with Mini Countryman and Nissan Juke.

In India Honda's compact SUV will face competition from Renault Duster, Premier RiO and Mahindra Quanto and the Ford Ecosport crossover.

American car maker General motors is also planning to launch compact SUV in India which is known as the Trax in European and other international markets. The Trax will provide Chevrolet's entry into compact SUV segment in India. Volkswagen is also working on to bring its own product in compact SUV and crossover segments. Maruti Suzuki is also expected to bring the XA Alpha to production by 2014.

Replacement of Honda City sedan in 2015 :

Honda has plans to replace its volumes puller City sedan globally. The new Honda sedan will be based on the 2013 Jazz platform and hence we can expect the new City to be launched by the 2015. The 2015 Honda City sedan is expected to come bolted with turbo diesel engine which Honda is currently developing.
