|All New 2013 Range Rover SUV unveiled ahead of Paris Motor Show 2012|
Ahead of the 2012 Paris Motor Show, Land Rover has unveiled the official pictures of the all new 2013 Range Rover SUV. The new fourth generation Range Rover is a big leap from its older model.
The first and foremost thing to be mentioned is the new aluminium monocoque design. The aluminium design reduces as much as 39 percentage of the vehicles weight which makes the new Range Rover 420 kilograms lighter than the older model. This in turn helps in lesser emissions better handling and fuel efficiency. Moreover, the four-corner air suspension ensures the ride quality.
The 2013 Range Rover is based on a D4u platform which will be used in the upcoming Land Rover products.
Exteriors and Interiors :
Coming to the looks, the 2013 Range Rover is inspired from the Evoque. The overall styling might look similar (breadbox design), but the 2013 Range Rover SUV has got more detailing in the headlights and body. Upfront, the Range Rover gets LED daytime running lamps and redesigned bumper for sharper look.
The interiors will have changes made for adding more luxury and comfort to the car. The dashboard, center console and LCD display are almost similar to the Evoque. The only difference is the flat top of the dashboard compared to the slope top found in the Evoque.
The increased wheelbase of 118mm contributes for more legroom space for rear passengers. Land Rover offers two-seat executive class seating which is boasts as the luxury feature for rear passengers. The company is also aiming to launch a longer wheelbase (accommodating 7 adults) model targeting Chinese market for pulling volume sales.
The 2013 Range Rover SUV gets a fair bit of change in the engine department as well. The fourth generation Range Rover will have its power supplied through a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol unit. For the diesel variants, 3.0-litre TDV6 diesel and 4.4-litre SDV8 diesel engines will be on offer. These engines will be mated to a eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.
2012 Range Rover SUV in India ?
The 2013 Range Rover which has undergone testing rounds for 18 months in 20 countries. The new Range Rover will be unveiled at the upcoming 2012 Paris Motor show next month (September). The Indian debut of this fourth generation Range Rover is expected in the month of November, 2012.
Land Rover's next biggie will be its new Range Rover Sport, codenamed L494, which is expected to premiere at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
