| Toyota planning to launch Rush Compact SUV in India |
A known fact is that the compact SUV segment in India is briskly picking up and auto makers are hurrying up to launch their own product in the segment soon. Especially, the Maruti Ertiga effect has made the other automobile brands in India think about this segment and deliver a product of as soon as possible. The resultant of such effect is the idea of Japanese car brand Toyota to enter Indian compact SUV segment with the 'Rush'. Already, the Mahindra Xylo Mini and Premier Rio are being tested in various parts of India and are likely to make their entry into India this year. Moreover, the Renault Dacia Duster and the Ecosport crossover are also in competition. Guess works on Toyota Rush price in India Now, the Japanese automaker Toyota will foray into this highly competitive segment with the Rush compact SUV. As per the reports in leading automobile portals, Toyota might launch the SUV with a price range of INR 10 lakhs. It is also said that Toyota is keen in filling the price gap between Etios/Corolla and Innova. When will the Toyota Rush be launched in India ? The compact SUV might be driven into India by the middle of 2014. Toyota has started working on the feasibility study in India in order to make the Rush a big success. Similarities between Toyota Rush and Premier Rio : The Premier Rio which is aligned for launch in India is a close match with Daihatsu Terios, while Toyota Rush is the second generation Daihatsu Terios. The current model of Rush was launched in the year 2006 and is a solid marketing product for Toyota in Japan, Chile, Turkey, Malaysia and China. The one which is expected in India is the third generation model of the Daihatsu Terios. petrol and diesel variants of Toyota Rush : As far as the engine is concerned, the Toyota Rush will be launched in both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will have the 1.4-litre petrol engine borrowed from the Etios sedan, while the diesel variant will have 1.4-litre D4-D diesel engine which does the duties in the Corolla Altis. The Rush is available with a four-wheel drive in the current markets but this option will be offered for India. The Toyota Rush is also available with short and longer wheelbase with 5 and 7 seat accommodations. |
