2012 Renault Dacia Duster Launched at INR 7.19 Lakhs

The most interesting launch from French automaker Renault is the Duster SUV as it has almost most of the features required to woo Indian car buyers. The spacious and well designed SUV is all set to rock Indian market if and only if the price tag satisfies the prospective buyers waiting for this SUV.

The launch of the Romanian collaborated French SUV will happen tomorrow and in the meanwhile the expectations have got even more higher as the specifications and variants details have been leaked on the web.

2012 Renault Dacia Duster variants :

The Renault Dacia Duster is available in both petrol and diesel engine guise. The petrol variant will have a 1.6 liter engine, while the diesel variant will be powered by a 1.5 liter dCi engine. The diesel engine will be available in different states of tune.

Renault Dacia Duster petrol engine variants are named RxL and RxE and the diesel engined variants gets the top end RxZ trim. The petrol engine and 85PS diesel unit be mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox, while the powerful 110PS diesel will be available in a 6-speed manual gearbox mating.

The petrol variants will have full hydraulic power steering and the diesel variants will have electro-hydraulic power steering.

Renault Dacia Duster mileage :

Renault claims an ARAI certified mileage for these variants (50-liter fuel tank) in its brochure and they are as follows :

• Petrol variants : 13.24 kmpl
• 85PS diesel engine : 20.46 kmpl
• 110PS diesel engine : 19.01 kmpl

The Duster SUV will be competing with Mahindra Scorpio, XUV-500 and even the MPVs Xylo and Ertiga. The vehicle will be produced in the Renault Nissan’s Orgadam plant near Chennai. The manufacturing has been highly localized in order to minimize the cost as pricing is a major weapon for SUVs to survive the cut-throat competition prevailing in Indian market.
