General motors has brought the new facelift version of the Cruze sedan at the ongoing 2012 Busan Motors show in Korea. A facelift for the Cruze was expected and here it is Ready to rock and roll in the markets. The makeover at the front includes new and wider honeycomb mesh and a new bumper with bigger air filters.

The Cruze facelift is expected to be driven into India only by 2013. However, the Indian market will get a diesel engine version of the Cruze in the next month.

2013 Chevrolet Cruze facelift interior changes (expected) :

During the launch of the Cruze facelift in India, expect the sedan to have undergone some changes in the interiors as well. One of the unanimous feedback which General Motors has got is the low space availability in the rear row of seats. Since most of the Cruze cars are driven by rented drivers, the buyers need ample space behind to relax.

So, General Motors India will get better rear seat comfort for the Cruze facelift. We can also expect the MyLink infotainment system to be screwed in which is General Motors' own car entertainment system.

2013 Chevrolet Cruze diesel engine (Z-series)

General motors has made sure that the new diesel engine overcomes all the problems faced by the older VCDi engine. The Cruze sedan will get a 2 Liter Z-series turbo diesel engine which has a  stroke layout unlike the older version's long stroke layout.

The other improvements include the reduction of compression ration from  17.5:1 (old engine) to 16.5:1 (new engine) and increase of turbo boost from 2 BAR to 2.2 BAR. All these upgrades makes sure that the Z-series engine has a increased power and torque capacity of 163 Bhp-360 Nm which is higher than the older diesel engine's 148 Bhp-327 Nm.

Chevrolet claims that the new engine does the 100 meters sprint in just 8.5 seconds. For easy maintenance the free cam chain replaces the older cam belt. The cam chain doesn't needs to be maintained periodically and last longer.

The diesel engine is available in a six-speed manual transmission and with automatic gearbox as options.
