2012 Piaggio Fly India launch :

Italian auto major Piaggio who has launched the iconic Vespa LX 125 as a lifestyle scooter in India a few months back, is planning to make its second launch of the year. Piaggio's second entrant into the market will be the 125cc Fly scooter which will be launched some time near October or early November.

After having overpriced the Vespa scooter, Piaggio is planning to boost volume sales in the scooter segment. Hence the Fly 125 cc scooter will be launched as the competitor to Honda Activa, and Suzuki Swish. The scooter is already on sale in international markets, but with a 150cc engine.

The Italian brand is expected to price the Fly scooter at a range of INR 50,000. This will help the Italian bran to generate volume sales. The Vespa did grab the attention of the scooter lovers in India but did not hit the expected sale figure due to the high price point.

The Fly scooter will be a good offering from the Italian automobile maker at an affordable price.

Piaggio Fly engine :

Powerhouse of the Fly scooter will be a 125cc engine which generates 10 bhp of peak power and 10 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine that powers the Vespa scooter but will not have 3 valves. Unlike the Vepa's engine, the Fly scooter will have a single cylinder 2-valve engine which is mated to a CVT transmission and yields good mileage.

The suspension duties are taken care by telescopic hydraulic shock absorber upfront. At the rear twin hydraulic shock absorbers with preload adjuster takes care of the same. The Fly scooter runs with a 12 inch wheels with tubeless tyres. A 200 mm disc brake at the front and 140mm drum brake at the rear does the stopping job.

2012 Piaggio Fly Colors :

The Piaggio colors is presently available in the international markets in four colors namely Blue Midnight, Black shine, Excalibur silver, Binaco Polare and the same is expected for Indian market too.
